Today is the 171st anniversary of the marriage of my great-great-great-grandparents, Elizabeth S. Lowe and Jonathan Walker. Elizabeth and Jonathan were married 28 November 1837 in Washington County, Ohio.

Elizabeth was born 17 October 1820 at Duck Creek, Noble County, Ohio, the eldest daughter (of six) and third child (of ten) of Jonathan and Hannah (Ayles) Lowe. Jonathan was born 29 Jun 1816 at Indian Creek, Monongalia County, Virginia (now West Virginia), the youngest son (of three) and youngest child (of eight) of James and Sarah (McMullen) Walker. Elizabeth and Jonathan had fourteen children (including two sets of twins!), seven daughters, and seven sons. Jonathan died 01 April 1897 at Dalzell, Liberty Township, Washington County, Ohio. Elizabeth died 12 December 1906 at Fifteen Mile Creek, Liberty Township, Washington County, Ohio.

Today is the 222nd anniversary of the marriage of my 5th great-grandparents, Johann Theobald Bender and Maria Elisabetha Wagner. Johann and Maria were married on 26 September 1786 in Altenkirchen, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.

Johann was born 31 March 1759 in Altenkirchen and Maria was born 25 January 1760 in nearby Frohnhofen. Johann and Maria had three children, two daughters and a son. Maria died 04 March 1813 in Altenkirchen and Johann died 24 April 1819 also in Altenkirchen.

The 36th Regiment of the Ohio Infantry was organized at Marietta, Ohio, July 30-August 31, 1861. The 36th left Ohio for West Virginia September 10, 1861. They moved to Summerville, and duty there till May, 1862. They were attached to Cox's Kanawha Brigade, West Virginia, to October, 1861. District of the Kanawha, West Virginia, to March, 1862. 3rd Brigade, Kanawha Division, West Virginia, to September, 1862. 2nd Brigade, Kanawha Division, 9th Army Corps, Army of the Potomac, to October, 1862. 2nd Brigade, Kanawha Division, District of West Virginia, Dept. of the Ohio, to February, 1863. [Page 3] To My Comrades:       A year ago at an informal reunion of the regiment, held in this city, I made a proposition to the members present that if they would defray the expenses of the preparation of a roster of the survivors of the regiment I would do the work for my share. This they readily agreed to and I at once entered upon the undertaking.       In this little pamphlet you have as near as I have been able to accomplish it such a roster as was contemplated. It has been a more difficult task than I anticipated but it has been a work of love and I have greatly enjoyed it. I am aware that imperfections will be found in it but such things are inevitable in such undertakings. The names, company designations, with P. O. addresses of about 460 living members of our dear old command are contained in the following pages. An edition of 550 copies has been prepared so that the widows and children, even the grand-children, of some of the departed ones, who have asked for it may have a copy.       I do not know that this work will ever be revised but I earnestly request the members who receive a copy of it to report to me from time to time as they learn of it the death of any comrade. Also any errors or omissions found in the roll. [Page 4] Please notify me also of any changes in P. O. address of yourself or that of any comrade coming to your knowledge. So long as I live and am able I will publish annually, and mail to you, a statement of all changes for the year so that you may keep your copy of the roster corrected to date. The P. There are three family history events in the month of June for which I do not know the exact dates.

This June is the 394th anniversary of my 9th great-grandfather, Obadiah Seely (also spelled Seeley, Sealy, and Sealey). Obadiah was born in June 1614 in Birmingham, England. He is my earliest ancestor to come to North America, arriving in the 1630's. By approximately 1647 he was married to Mary Angell in Stamford, Fairfield, Connecticut, USA. Obadiah died on 25 August 1657 in Stamford, Fairfield, Connecticut, USA. My descent from Obadiah is as follows:

This June marks the 341st anniversary of the birth of my 8th great-grandfather, Hanß Nickel Molter. Hanß Nickel was born in June 1667 in Dittweiler, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. On 03 November 1693, Hanß Nickel married Anna Margaretha Becker in Altenkirchen, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. He died there in April 1747. My descent from Hanß Nickel is as follows:

Lastly, June marks the 178th anniversary of the birth of my great-great-grandmother, Hannah (Kelly) Roddy. Hannah was born in Ireland in June of 1830. She immigrated to the USA in 1847. Hannah died 05 June 1902 in Parkersburg, Wood, West Virginia, USA. My descent from Hannah is as follows:

Today is the 192nd anniversary of the birth of my great-great-great-grandfather, Jonathan Walker. Jonathan was born on 29 June 1816 on the Indian Creek, Monongalia County, Virginia (between Fairmont and Morgantown in West Virginia). He was eighth child and third son of James and Sarah (McMullen) Walker. On 28 November 1837 in Washington County, Ohio, Jonathan married Elizabeth S. Lowe. Jonathan and Elizabeth had 14 children (7 sons and 7 daughters). Jonathan died on 01 April 1897 at Dalzell, Liberty Township, Washington County, Ohio. My descent from Jonathan is as follows:
